Missions Past And Present

Following the outcome of Operation Black Swan, Nova Cell is being viewed with mixed feelings by The Agency. Admittedly, the team single-handedly saved every communications satellite over the Northern Hemisphere, but at a cost of nearly twenty million dollars' worth of collateral damage in the United States, Mexico, Columbia and Paraguay and a body count that may never be realized. The diplomatic wranglings required to patch up relationships between the affected nations were another price that had to be borne by The Agency.

Effective and intimidating are two applicable epithets to this cell. Efficient is not. But it has been decreed that effectiveness is more important to our agenda than efficiency, and that buildings can be remade and that bones will almost always heal. Carlossi's powers of recovery have become something of a legend at Agency Headquarters. However, if the source of the gambling pool that is betting upon which day Wisdom and Smith finally kill each other is determined, it will be disbanded.

Nova Cell is to be loaned to the Australian government for Operation Rock Steady and it is to be hoped that the relatively routine parameters of the scenario will allow the team's strengths to come to the fore. The hostage is too high-profile to risk to Carlossi's luck and Whittaker's field skills will be best used in tracking the ransom. With luck, this will firmly re-establish Nova Cell's abilities and positive reputation
