| My characters are having one
of their selfish days, so I've resorted to an old trick: I've given
them what they want right now. In a week or so, I'll go back and edit
to how I think the story
should end. Does everyone else have this problem - needing to do a little give-and-take with their characters? In my case, it's more a matter of 'give in to impulse for a few moments, have fun, but then return to sense before publishing the final draft'. So far, so good. The characters get sulky but, heck, I need to assert myself with them as often as possible - which isn't nearly often enough. Bad enough that I've already got one impulse-driven AU for Paul & Yvette (written during a moment of utter mindlessness). I certainly don't need another... |
