Other Useful Sites For The LARPer - Updated 11/16/04

How Dungeons and Dragons Changed The World - Editorial at the Boston Globe that's worth a read.

The Houses of Eternity Library - Much like this site, a collection of very useful articles for the LARPer, covering topics from logistics, to character development to problem solving.

The 48 Laws of Power (Summary) - these are summarized from a book of the same name that many Vampire LARPers swear by. I agree with them. Definitely worth reading! Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) file, not HTML.

Costuming Links
- I've got so many, I've had to move them to their own page. Links include re-creationist tailors, sources for vintage and reproduction patterns, tips for sewers, etc.

The Live Action Roleplayers' Assocation - Formerly known as the Interactive Literature Foundation. A US non-profit organization that exists exclusively to promote live action role playing (LARP) around the globe by spreading information about LARP as a form of art, education, and entertainment.

The LARPer E-Zine - Just what it says it is. Chock full of useful advice for LARPers of all stripes - and I'm not just saying that because one of the staffers said lavishly lovely things about my own site...

Starting a Live Roleplaying Game - A how-to article written by the storytellers of Madison By Night. This lengthy article discusses logistics, plotcraft, costuming, safety issues and much more.

The DIY Guide to LRP - an exhaustive collection of links and information, dedicated to the props and costumes that make games fun. From armor to pyrotechnics and beyond, you'll find a lot of advice, here.

IvanSez / Ben Sez - a well-presesnted collection of advice columns and rants - much like this site - of use to both tabletop and live-action players. In particular, check out the Campaign Or Group? debate.

Alan DeSmet's Advice for GMs - It's a tabletop-centric article, but it contains useful advice which is applicable to both tabletop and LARPing.

The Ten Commandments of Priceless Players - Gamerchick says what I was trying to say in "GM and Player Responsibilities to a LARP" in a far more eloquent fashion.

Reciprocal Links, Other Fun Places

EA Profiles - Online RPG and character resource. Nice design and an interesting concept, although a little confusing for the newcomer...

The Inner Chambers - A good place for WoD gamers to visit, particularly Vampire players and webmasters.

Shards LRP - An ongoing SF/Fantasy/Horror/History Troupe in the UK (Derbyshire?), specializing in long-term, one-shot events.

Dreams of Deirdre - A kickass con-based larp troupe in the SF Bay Area. They usually run Star Wars and Changeling events, but they have been known to foray into other areas. If they're at your con, go play in their game!

Babe in Gameland - a great rant/commentary by a female gamer. Check out her other rants as they are all worth reading - as is most of her website
